Smokey Skies over the City

western washington, smoke, wild fires, british columbia, tulatlip, indian reservation, iPhone photography, hdrphotographyThe skies of Western Washington are filled with smoke from the Wild fires in British Columbia right now. It reminds me of living in Southern California with Smoggy skies and alerts.

This iPhone photo was captured on the Tulalip Indian reservation pointed into the sun and through the evergreen trees.

In the original images the skies were orange and sun light very muted with tint of red. It was easy to look at compared to the usual fiery ball in the sky. I was going for a nice composition with this shot. The trees acted to fill my 9 frames for a composition in the foreground that worked.

You can see that even with an iPhone you can capture stunning images. You probably can’t offer them for sale due to overall image quality, but they look pretty awesome none the less.

This was one shot (naturally) with two additional images duplicated and exposure offset as follows: +1, 0, -1.  For this images I used Aurora 2017 HDR to process this HDR iPhone photograph. In Aurora I selected the “Foggy Morning” preset, which acted to add a glow effect and softens to the processed image.

In LightRoom 6 I applied the Serge Ramelli’s preset “Golden Age” and… BAM!! There it is… an artistic view of Smokey Skies over the City.

French photographer Sergie Ramali offers HDR Master Class 2017 training and more. Sergie’s training is easy to follow and will help you up your HDR processing game if that is your goal. I approve and am a customer and a testament of his work. Sergie Ramali is the bomb!
