The DJI Phantom 4 Pro is pure performance

I had just upgraded from my Yuneek Q500+ to my new DJI Phantom 4 Pro+… and I needed some practice prior to my upcoming real estate shoot in Monroe WA.

Near the Everett Washington Marina I found this quiet and uninhabited cove of sand and washed up tree branches. The perfect place to fly without interruptions or people. The image above was one frame duplicated into 3 different exposures and merged into Photomatix Pro. Finally, a few small tweaks with LightRoom 5 and there it is.

The photo below is an drone capture of the front of the property in Monroe Washington that I shot for one of my top real estate agents in Snohomish County.

You can add the Phantom 4 Pro+ Quadcopter to your collection for around $1,800. My real estate photography business has already paid for it through my photoshoot this year.

First… a few things I did not like and things I did like about my Yuneek Q500.

I did not like the fact that this drone flew like a Buick. Seemed big and bulky to control. Second, the propellers were a dreaded event to install and to remove. You needed an extra tool to grip and the other hand to twist the propellers off.

I did like the the durability of the Yunkee Q500+. This drone took a licking and kept on ticking. On several occasions I had very hard landings and one severe crash into a parked tree. was packed with great videos to show how to repair the damage sustained and within about an hour and half of tedious and pain staking micro adjustments I was able to fly again.

My Yuneek Q500+ is still in good shape and has become my back up drone and flight test dummy.

Now I fly the best of the best… the one and only Phantom 4 Pro+ Quadcopter. So far I just simply love this drone. Much easier to fly then the Yuneek.

Here are a few things I like about my new DJI Phantom Pro 4+

Performance – Compared to the Yuneek Q500+ this drone does not fly like a Buick, rather it flies more like a fine Jaguar in the sky. The movements are easier and stability feels better. I would also say when you step on the gas and need this one to climb, decent, or move left or right is simply responds. You can even walk with the drone if you need it to move slower while you capture some awesome video or real estate or other photoshoots.

20 Mega-Pixels – I have noticed a marked difference between the Yuneek Q500+ and the DJI Phantom 4 Pro+. The images are clearer (not so grainy) and much easier to manipulate in the editing software. I am sure the camera will continue to improve as time marches on. Stay tuned.

Battery Life – Cleary this one has a much much improved battery over the Yuneek drone. My Yuneek could last up to 15 minutes while I can get an entire real estate photo shoot out of one battery. This flight time is about 20 to 30 minutes per Intelligent Flight Battery for Phantom 4 Pro. If I had a complaint it might be that the DJI Phantom 4 Pro+ only comes with one battery. The Yuneek Q500+ came equipped with two batteries.

Anyway… you can buy extras. Each battery is expected to last unto 30 when fully charged. Keep in mind this is based upon how you fly, plus the conditions of flight. I bought 2 additional batteries and can not fly up to 90 minutes if needed. 😉

Carrying Case – Love it!! The Yunkee Q500+ come with a hard case and is the size of a large suitcase (heavy and bulky). The case for the DJI Phantom 4 Pro+ is very lightweight, easy to pack your drone and accessories away, and doesn’t look daunting while carrying it around. As a matter of fact you can upgrade to an actual back back that carries your drone while you hike to your favorite spot to fly and capture amazing images from the DJI Phantom 4 Pro+.

Easy to Install Propellers – With the Phantom 4 Pro+ Quadcopter you simply match the propellers up to the appropriate color on the drone (black dot to black dot and grey to white dots), push down on the propeller and twist about a quarter of a turn to install. Then after safely landing you push down and turn a quarter turn the opposite direction and they are off. Much easier for storing into your case then the Yuneek Q500+ is to store. Mine actually sits on the shelf in my home office with the propellers still installed because it is such a hassle.

Permanent Mounted Screen – Now for me I love the screen. I do not need to mount my iPhone to fly the drone. This is a benefit for me. For you… you may like the DJI Phantom 4 Pro that allows you to mount an iPhone and fly. This model comes in at about $1300. It is just personal preference, however I find this a benefit if you do not like messing with mounting and connecting. I just want to start up, fly, and land with out further delay disassembly.

The photo below is from my DJI Phantom 4 Pro+ from my recent photo shoot in Monroe Washington. This home sat on about a 2.25 acre lot.

I started in the front yard and captured several shots and then walked with the drone about 10 feet away from me at about 7 to 8 feet in the air all the way to the back of the property. In the back I captured a mother in law unit, a green house, a large outdoor deck, a bridge and stream that backed up to the property, and flew to 400 feel to capture the whole property from high up. 400 feet seems to be the maximum altitude the Phantom 4 Pro+ Quadcopter climb to.

A key thing I really enjoy best about drone flying is the different perspective your photography can share. You really get a whole new feeling of the final photo that you just can’t get when you are simply on a tripod at about 4 feet tall.

Alway be safe when flying. Use good judgement and follow the rules. Thanks for reading my thoughts on the DJI Phantom 4 Pro+ and my first Yuneek Q500+ drones and experiences.
