Photography can be an expensive endeavor. This applies to the hobbiest or the professional photographer. To verify this just ask my wife.
To help me buy new equipment I sell my images through FineArtAmerica. Swing by to see all my best work and to support my expensive hobby. Thank you in advance.
Here is my disclaimer… you don’t need to own loads of camera equipment to be able to create stunning photographs. As an example I use three key pieces of equipment when producing my professional real estate photographs.
Real Estate Equipment:
- Nikon D600 Camera body. (*note – a great replacement would be the D750 DSLR Camera (Body Only).
- AT-X 16-28mm f/2.8 Pro FX Lens for Canon
- RoadTrip Aluminum Travel Tripod Kit (Red)
Beyond professional real estate photographs for top agents in Snohomish County I primarily photograph Pacific Northwest landscapes, Seattle Pike Place Market and city life, and on occasions I do natural light portraits. I am fortunate to own a variety of equipment for these endeavors.
Nikon D600 – This camera captures 24 mega pixel images. Unfortunately, the camera has been discontinued and replaced by the Nikon D610. With the upgrade Nikon solved the dust and oil issue that was happening on the sensor. I love my D600, had the sensor replaced for free, and shoot outstanding portrait and outdoor images. See for yourself at my gallery.
** A fantastic replacement camera is the Niko D750 DSLR Camera with 24-120mm Lens and Storage Kit
Nikon 90 – This was my first digital camera. I love it and it still captures fantastic images. The camera is a workhorse. It shoots at 12.5 mega pixels. I would recommend picking up a used body as an addition to your equipment.
AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR Lens – This is my walk around lens and came with the Nikon D600 package when I purchased it two years ago. The lens is decent.
AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G Lens – I love this lens. So inexpensive and captures outstanding portraits. With this lens I have produced exceptional indoor and outdoor portraits and been paid for my efforts.
AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Lens – Recently added this lens to my collection. I love it as well as the 50mm. If you are outdoor or in studio this lens is a must have for the money. You can upgrade to the Nikon 85mm 1.4 for a significant price increase.
AF18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD AF Lens for Nikon – A good lens. I use it with my Nikon D90. This a DX lens and will not work well with FX (full frame) cameras. If you are on a budget or just getting started out in photography, this lens is perfect.
AT-X 16-28mm f/2.8 Pro FX Lens for Nikon – Love this lens. So sharp and leaving your image with outstanding color. If you are are shooting indoor, such as Cathederals, or outdoor landscapes this lens should be considered as an addition to your equipment. It retails for a whole lot less then the Nikon 12-24mm wide angle.
AT-X 24-70mm f/2.8 PRO FX Lens for Nikon F – So versatile. This lens is awesome for going out into nature to capture long exposure images. My Hoya 82mm ProND1000 Filter allows me to capture running rivers and fast moving clouds or things to give a real artistic feel to those images.
** To tote all my lens around with me I purchased this 1450 Case with Foam (Black)
SB-700 AF Speedlight – What can I say… outstanding and shoots from my Nikon D600 or wireless from a hot shoe stand. I use this light for my indoor portraits and on occasion I have use it in outdoor portrait portraits as well.
In the future I am going to add a AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens to my collection. That will happen in 2017 and I may also be inclined to update my Nikon D600 to the Nikon D750.
So… that is all of my photography equipment. I have been blessed to be able to acquire so much. Thank you for checking out what I use. Also…
